Anyone know anything about Linux Ubuntu, like how to get a wireless driver functioning?
Been through this a bit at the Ubuntu Forums already, but figred it was worth a shot to post it here.
Got a Linksys E1000 wireless router with USB card. Supposed to have automatic driver support with Linux Ubuntu 11.04 but it doesn't work. I downloaded the driver in question, it's called RT2870USB, and then found out later that I didn't need to. Don't know why it won't work, I'm thinking I have to blacklist certain other drivers that may be trying to attach themselves to it, but I don't know how to do so. I can post a lot of the info if anyone versed in linux can help, I've been through a few of the info commands and have the info on hand, but I do have to restart my computer to get into linux as I'm running it off the same machine, and can only do one at a time. Going back n forth, yeah, a pain.
I know I can by another card of a site called thinkpenguin for around $50 but I figured I'd try and resolve the issue first before spending the money, and maybe learn a thing or two in the process.
Am I barking up the wrong tree even attemptin to use linux if I don't program?

Hmm... *** SPOILER ALERT ***

I know absolutely nothing about Linux.
Have you tried to do the hookup without using USB? I know it's modern times and all in the hardware/software world, but long, long ago and far away USB wireless connections used to be a pain in the ass, so to speak.
Have you posted your query on the Linksys forums?
I've gotten completely off of wireless and gone the wired route. I build and run my own cables and I'm happy to be doing it that way. Even my xBox and internet radio is hard wired. There's more security for everything. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way yet to hard-wire my HTC Desire HD*, but such is life.
Yeah, I know. I have no answers for you.

*Yes, yes, I've finally moved into the 21st Century.
