Argh! What do you call peoples' tendency to look for connections everywhere?

There's a word for it and for the life of me and my dear Auntie-who-brought-it-up's* sanity, I can't remember it.  I'm not about to plow through weeks' worth of FARK headlines to find it, so I'm hoping, as with so many thing in life, Crankyland has the answer.

(Makes with the sad pleading eyes.)

* She was all about the "ZOMG, the number 13 and OJ WTF?" thing that I (luckily) hadn't heard of until now.  Kinda reminds me of the one from years ago where, if you take a twenty dollar bill, and fold it this way, and then fold it that way, and turn it around and ect., you will see... that you have way too much free time.
