Is Congress still Relevant?

No, of course not.

I wonder if Congress is relevant any more. Yesterday, when Hank Paulson and Ben Bernanke advocated legislation that divests Congress of most of its constitutional powers regarding the economy, members of Congress meekly sat there, instead of calling the Sergeant at Arms and having Paulson and Bernanke arrested.

Yes, this is yet another power grab by this administration

Members of congress are more interested in getting elected than doing their job. They are suppose to read a bill and debate it before passing it.

...wanted to see an immediate change, and the corruption and/or bad decisions bush and his party have made stopped.  Well, why didn't congress do anything?  I mean they had the support of the american people.  The peopl obviously wanted change when they voted in a democratic congress, and yet they didn't get any.  Am I wrong here?  I don't always pay detailed attention to this stuff but it doesn't seem like the mid-term congressional electiopns did much to put the checks and balances on things.

Getting back into the White House than making sweeping changes. Although I would have enjoyed impeachment proceedings it would have bogged down the government. Not to worry, the way this president and vice president have conducted themselves they'll leave office disgraced even without being impeached.
