Hey Green Party, Libertarians, whatever, now's your chance!

The Republicans are leaving a big void in this country as the party of no.

No leadership

No new ideas

No cooperation

No compromise

No action

No balls

The GOP has been stealing their ideas from the Libertarians

Dan_in_Cincinnati's picture

That's been going on for 30 years now.  The only things Republicans come up with on their own are social conservative issues, criticizing the UN, and saber rattling.

The Libertarian Party is for peace and prosperity.

I do however approve of Obama's plans to go after al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan with more troops.  They have done actual damage to the USA and would like to do so again.

I agree we need a military but how much of a military?

Seems to me special forces would work better for going after the badies in Afghanistan. We might need our more conventional forces here. Like for the civil war erupting in Mexico that is spilling over our borders.

Obama's recent speech on Al Qaeda

From Slate.com

Early in his speech, Obama re-emphasized that his goals in this war are limited: "to disrupt, dismantle and defeat al-Qaida in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and to prevent their return to either country in the future." In other words, forget about turning Afghanistan into a Western-style democracy or a bastion of human rights. The reason we have troops there at all is to protect the United States and our allies from another terrorist attack.

PS:  We have plenty of troops where they aren't needed such as Iraq, Japan and Europe.  Bring them home and we will have plenty of troops to go after our real enemies in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Never understood why the Bush administration....

Was more concerned about Iran than Pakistan. Pakistan already had nukes. We need to take a harder look at many of our so called allies in the region. Saudi Arabia supports alot of the terrorist organizations.

Bush's father & the oil companies do business with the Saudis

Not to mention Halliburton.  So criticism of the Saudis was off the table.

I have mixed feelings about our new strategy in Afghanistan.

While I do applaud Obama for FINALLY setting a course to get our troops out of Iraq and refocusing on Afghanistan - which to me was always the real country of concern thanks to the Taliban and the cave-dotted Afghan hills - I'm starting to think that any war in A-stan is unwinnable.  Not to mention the increasing influence of the "new" Taliban on our "allies" in Pakistan, A-stan + P-stan = holy shit.

On a related note, I do hope that our allies in India don't get affected by the shitstorm going on just across the border.

Yeah, I understand the importance of Halliburton

Electrocuting our troops is a vital military function

Keeps them on their toes
