Religious figures shouldn't be awarded civic honours.

Surely the sacrifices they make are of their own choosing and those made in service of their deity are reward enough in themselves? :)

is something to be admired. How would you like to have that man on his Sunday-morning sermon proclaiming that you're all sinners and meaning it?

He'd scare the bejesus out of me with one stone-faced glare, and I'd be in the confessional admitting that I once bombed a Québec mailbox in the '70s.
