Neil LaBute is a graduate of Brigham Young University, University of Kansas and
New York University. While enrolled in the Graduate Dramatic Writing Program at
NYU, he was the recipient of a literary fellowship to study at the Royal Court
Theatre in London and attended the Sundance Institute's Playwrights Lab. His plays
include "Filthy Talk for Troubled Times," "Lepers," "Bash," "A Gaggle of Saints,"
"Rounder," "Sangguinarians & Sycophants, Ravages," and adaptations of "Dracula"
and "Woyzeck" which have been produced at venues in this country and abroad. He
lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana with his wife and two children.

If you were offered the opportunity to live your life as another film person (actor, director, etc.) who would it be and why?

Atom Egoyan -- the nicest man I've yet met in filmmaking.
What is the most bizarre experience you've had making a movie?

The relative acceptance of this project in the media. It's always unexpected when someone smiles at you.
What do you wish you could change about yourself and why?

Hairstyle -- it's always been curly. And procrastination -- the bane of most writers.
If you could work with any person in the film industry, past or present, actor, director or writer, who would it be and why?

At the moment, Godard as he was making "Contempt." Watching it recently was overpoweringly intoxicating.
You've been hired to remake "Casablanca." Who do you cast in the leads and why?

Isabella Adjani -- heartbreaking and real.
Harrison Ford/Robert Redford -- heartbreaking and real.
Director -- Sydney Pollack.
Describe something in your career that you regret.

Not being English -- great theatre and great people.
What one person have you enjoyed working with the most?

David Ives and Susan Miller -- great playwrights, greater people.
Of all the movies you have seen, which one made you the crankiest?

"Modern Problems."
What question do reporters and interviewers ask you that, when you come right down to it, is just really none of their goddamned business?

Anything personal.
