Have you ever put a litter of pups to sleep because nobody wanted them? Had to watch as a dog languished in a small kennel because somebody had bought it on a whim without realizing the needs of a dog of this breed? Saw what happens to a bitch who produces litter after litter in a puppymill until she can't produce any more - and then see what happens to her?
Until you work for an animal shelter or SPCA, you will never know "how very dumb" you sound to someone who has.
