I've been seeing reviews for it in Time and Newsweek, so I know the day is approaching. From rotten-tomatoes.com, I gather that it opens Friday in NYC. A friend with more Flash on his computer than mine visited the official site and said that Dec. 15 is the opening date for L.A. He also found that December 26 is the opening for Australia.
So when does it go wide for all the cities in between NY and LA (yes, there ARE a few)? I'm guessing December 22, but it takes Buffalo forever to get anything good, so I don't think I'll end up seeing it til a few weeks into the New Year.
There used to be a site where I could go, type in the title, and get the opening days for Buffalo and which theater the movie would be playing in. Unfortunately I can't remember the URL. Oh well. Anyone more informed out there? Parca? Presley? Violet?
I'm really psyched about this movie-- it's gotten almost across-the-board stellar reviews, and a friend of mine who is living in China this year has reported very good things. I just hope it's subtitled and not dubbed. Dubbing would really suck. (From what I understand from the Newsweek article, Ang Lee took such pains to make his actors speak in accurate classical Mandarin-- sort of like Shakespearean English to us, I guess-- that dubbing would really wreck the entire thing.)
