Long story short, I wrote a check to a carpet cleaner, and he called a few days later to say that he'd lost the check, and could I re-issue him a new one. Like an idiot, I believed him and did it. Now, three months later, he cashed the "lost" check.
I'm so mad I could spit. Does anyone have experience with stopping payment? What's the process, how much does it cost, etc.?
