Hmmmm...
You know, for someone who professes the virtue of patience (by happily enduring the slow ponderous nature of 2001), you are not very good at being as patient with differences of opinion.
Looking at your post, it's just string after string of insults directed at those who disagree with you, rather than a coherent argument.
That's not terribly persuasive and I think even Kubrick would have to agree with me there.
If you read my earlier posts, you're a classic example of someone who confuses the ponderous nature of 2001 with philosophical depth. Yes, 2001 does have depth but that's not the point of contention. The contention is the ponderousness of the film.
I see 'depth' and 'ponderousness' as two mutually exclusive concepts: hence my reference to other movies which have depth but are not ponderous (e.g. 'Citizen Kane' or even 'The Bridge Over The River Kwai').
Unless you're writing a play for The Theatre Of The Absurd (e.g. 'Waiting For Goddo') where ponderousness nature of the play is exactly the whole point of the play... I don't have much sympathy for people who take too long to express an idea, no matter how intelligent that idea may be.
But if you think otherwise, fantastic.
