"Taste" shouldn't really be based on anything that is through personal opinion. There really is no way to label what is in "good taste". My favorite films? Matrix, Akira, Minority Report, Fight Club... the list goes on. I love all of these movies in the same way that they all have a sense of depth, meaning, and perplexity, but all of them have other things to offer, like violence, humor, ect.

I have total respect for Kubrick and 2001, but there is just not enough "other stuff" to keep it's status in modern times. But hey, taste should only be viewed as a physical sense, huh?
