The thing was originally written as a screenplay; turning it into a book didn't work because Clarke....well, he sucks as a writer. Read the sequels for further evidence of that.
As for his 'predictions,' they didn't resemble logic or genius by any measure. You want genius and 'predictions?' Read a real book: ATLAS SHRUGGED, by Ayn Rand. Some of her facts are wrong concerning religious practices, and her obvious nazi tendencies show through (not a black person in the book, the 2 leading white males have blonde hair, blue eyes, and the average man is inferior), but her political logic is almost indisputable.
