well man i dont think that it was a flaw. i did come to the same conclusion as you the first time i saw the movie, i hated the aftertaste. but i got to thinking that john doe didnt care about killing everyone that was commiting these sins, he just wanted to show everyone what "god's will" was. i think that i would have rather died than have to live with the torture that david endures at the end of the movie. i am sure that john doe was wanting this to be a huge story in the papers. what better way.
