01/16/03: Seriously, now

Posted By: Becky_Sharp

I see the future of humanity in very sci-fi terms. (And I'm talking 10,000 years in the future, not next Tuesday.) There are a bunch of possible scenarios. These are my favorites:

IF we don't nuke everything on the planet, we'll eventually exhaust our natural resources to the point that we either have to evolve into subterranean dirt eaters or colonize other planets.

IF we colonize other planets, we'll probably only bother to take the best and brightest with us, in which case the dirt- eaters here on earth will continue to devolve while the superpeople go on to make a utopia on Mars.

IF the superpeople go on to make a utopia on Mars, they will naturally have to evolve some gills. Can't be super without gills.

IF the superpeople evolve some gills, they will have to have somewhere to swim. There's no water on Mars, so they will use their superpeople brains to build a ray that will change the climate on earth to such a degree that it will rain nonstop for many days, killing all the dirt-eaters. (Future species will make up annoyingly pious myths about this.)

IF the superpeople flood the earth and return so they can swim, they will naturally evolve to become the biggest, smartest, fastest things in the water. Also, their big super brains will evolve comfy cushions of rich, delicious oil.

IF their super brains evolve comfy cusions of rich delicious oil, sooner or later some subspecies will throw a pointy stick at them to get the oil. When that's out of style, those same subspecies will catch the superpeople and put them in tanks.

IF the superpeople are caught and put in tanks, eventually they'll become too stupid to catch their own food.

.

I am so goddamn bored.
