...it will just taste bad. Zippy. Almost like it's been carbonated. Also, it should be clear and not cloudy. If you can't see clearly through it, toss it. You can sniff the cork too before you taste it to see if it smells rancid before actually tasting it.
The tiny amount you drink in order to figure out that it's bad shouldn't be enough to actually harm you. But, if looking bad, smelling, and tasting bad isn't enough to convince you, perhaps you should drink a little more...
