07/10/03: Anybody know anything about asthma?

Posted By: jessica-renee

I have a very mild case of it, so mild that I haven't had any trouble with my breathing or attacks since I was ten. I don't have an inhaler, and I never think about it. Until today.

Today I found myself having an asthma attack in the morning. I went outside, tried to breathe, and drank plenty of water. When I felt a little better, I continued working, but my breathing didn't get any easier. The whole day it felt like my throat had closed up. I've been wheezing while breathing.

At around seven, it got really bad. My pulse started racing and I started going a little hysterical (sounds like I'm insane, but I couldn't figure out why I couldn't calm down). I couldn't breathe at all until I laid down and tried to calm myself.

I'm alright now, but my breathing is still unregular (irregular?) my chest and back are aching, and it hurts to take deep breaths. Is there anything I can do to ease this? I have a steamer meant for stuffy noses next to me, and I'm drinking tea with honey. I just wanted to know if there's something else I could do.
