Yes, thankfully these 2 days aren't Another 48 Hours, but they are a Tropicana Juice (less pulp, more fiction) version of some of the more original action/ensemble films that have come out.
It was entertaining, but it would have been much better had it not been formulaic and relied on so many movie stereotypes. Let's see- we need a loveable hit man, a Bond-esque Swedish blonde, an artsy selfish imp, a villan that we can all hate (Spader, at his Yuppy-scum best), a suicidal cop on the edge....
And how about that Disney-esque ending? The bad guys are dead, the hit man gets a woman, the skiier goes free-- the only thing missing was a rainbow across the screen and for Willy and Lassie to come home. Like Independence Day, it was entertaining, but went for the audience pleaser ending instead of sticking to its guns.
