1. He's a Republican, and the nation is still leaning in that direction (2006 Congressional elections really haven't "stopped" Iraq war, btw) 2. He's a better candidate than most of the Democrats. 3. He's a better candidate than the other Republicans too. 4. He is against the Iraq War, and has never really been for it (no flip-flop chant.) 5. He seems to say what he means and actually know what he's saying. (no, "I'm the decider." speech with come from him.) 6. He has actually been involved in National Government (take that Rudy Giuliani.) 7. He's a white guy (sorry Hillary and Barack, America is not electing a woman or a person of color this time around (the ghost of Strom Thurmond will see to that).) 8. He's from a "Middle" State, Nebraska, Kerry (Eastern) lost because he picked Edwards (Eastern) and not Gephardt(Middle)(two Easterners people vs. a Middler (Bush) and a Westerner (Cheney).) 9. He is a decorated Vietnam vet, with no "Swift Boaters" in sight. 10. He worked as a deputy admin in the VA until his boss tried to cut funding (the boss called Vet groups "greedy"), at which point Hagel resigned in disgust.
Bonus: He ran ES&S, an electronic voting machine company, about 10 years ago, so he knows how to "win" (just in case.)
