03/14/07: I hardly speak for liberals, but I know why I won't vote for McCain

I can handle McCain's views on abortion. My vote is about much much more than a single political issue. I think it would hav been nice to have someone in office who knows where the tax dollars come from and respects that. I'd like a man in office who truly understands the consequences of war: Someone who keeps his gun in his desk drawer instead of holstered with his hand on it while he surveys the horizon with a steely squint, fingers the trigger.

BUT then McCain gave his speech at Bob Jones U. Now that I don't mind, not one bit. I've got a friend who graduated from there, and even Al Franken admits (in Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them) that Bob Jones ain't a bad place. It was what he said that totally turned me off. He came out against stem cell research and for the teaching of intelligent design in school science classes. Bye John. We will have had eight years of one faith-based ignoramus. We don't need another four years of having a leader who thinks science is a dirty word ranking right down there somewhere between "fuck" and "shit", and "ACLU." I want the next guy to have fact based policies. I want a person in office who will actually LISTEN to his generals and not cherry pick facts to support his predetermined and inflexible positions. So you see, YouPee, I am damning McCain with the worst insult I could possibly come up with: He's too Bush. In McCain's speech at Bob Jones, the liberals didn't turn on McCain, he turned on them. It's a wonder he could talk at all after that with his lips wrapped around the huge cock of Christian Conservatism. Fine, go after you're ever-shrinking base, McCain. And G-d bless those Christian Conservatives who've finally come to grips with the fact that the Neocons have for the past six years been neither Chrisitan nor conservative.

Any of the top three Democratic candidates would make a fine president. Hillary would be awesome. Obama would energize this country. Gore would be great. How nice it will be to have someone in office who can converse in complete sentences and who doesn't alienate the world every time he manages to squeeze one out.
