Apropos of the Canadian lumber dispute we have been through this several times before. On every occasion an appeal to GATT has sided with the Canadian position. The US continues to ignore this.
A few years back, the US did this with Canadian durum wheat. An examination of farm subsidies demonstrates that US agriculture is subsidised far more than Canadian, a complaint that our farmers have made for years.
Seems like the US talks the talk but in no way is willing to walk the walk.
Maybe it won't be so long before Canada brings down the Empire State building with suitably delivered curling rocks."

Shakesmear sounds like Grundle. His arch nemesis. My word to both Shakes and Grundle is that the FREE MARKET doesn't exist. It's an illusion. If governments didn't exert power over the free market, corporations would. If governments didn't offer subsidies, tax breaks, tariffs to keep corporations from falling between the cracks, the void would be filled by monopolies.
How stupid can one person be? Believing that a politician would favor off shore interests instead of pandering to the electorate during an election year. The stupidity of Shakes just boggles my mind.
I remember back during the late 70's, and the Reagan 80's, when the Japs dumped cheap cars and electronic goods in the American market. We cried foul then...but all the Japs could say was that Americans are lazy, stupid people. They pointed to their success as a FREE MARKET nation supported by their government. Who's laughing now that their economy is crumbling? We are! Take that, you yellow menace.
I don't care about Canada, Russia, or any other damn country. What I care about is my own well being. As long as my investments make money, and as long as I can pick up young girls...I don't give a rat's ass about what happens to the frozen north. Most Canadian women have moustaches, anyway.
