Not everyone who works in a library is a librarian. The person you dealt with was probably a clerk. I am a library tech; I work with librarians and I'm married to one, (one of the good ones.) Most of them are over-educated narcissicists, full of BS and useless information, and the now-required Master's degree, earned in candy- ass "scholarly" programs, is nothing but rank credentialism, aimed at improving both self-esteem and salaries. But they do help us get access to information that we don't know how to go about finding ourselves, so give 'em a break.
