08/23/05: Some woman came into my job the other day, she's a matchmaker...

I work for a sign company, we also do a little advertising on the side. The other day this woman comes in to order some displays for a book signing she's having. She claims to run a matchmaking company, and in addition, claims 47 marraiges she's responsible for, numerous relationships, and has charged up to 10,000 dollars for her services. She had us scan her picture out of an article she was featured in in, "People," magazine. The article confirmed all this. On top of all this she was still single, and quite attractive I might add. Unfortunately she was also pushy and a little querky, which might explain why she's single, but it made me laugh that someone who claims to have joined so many people, based on what SHE thinks is good for someone else, could not find someone for herself.

I then also think of these dumb TRUE online matchmaking services that feature pictures of beautiful women that you would never expect to meet in the online dating world. I've never dated online so I cannot say it's not impossible but somehow I doubt that model types would have trouble finding a date. My boss however, thought that model types have trouble getting dates because men are intimidated by them and don't ask for fear of rejection. I thought maybe it could be that they only find people who are interested in them for their looks and therefore have no trouble getting a date, but more trouble persuing a relationship.

Feelings on this anyone?
