I wouldn't go so far as to say I missed the plot twist like MH, because I didn't, but for some reason I just didn't care -- maybe because it didn't involve nudity! I thought the build-up (minus the nudity) was too slow for its own good (there's several long shots of Rampling doing absolutely nothing interesting except day-to-day crap), and it felt like the story really didn't get going until the last half hour when the murder happens. I still think it's good enough for whatever high number I ranked it, but I can see how some heterosexual women would be bored by it (and a couple of my female friends did say as much). No heterosexual man on earth could find the middle portion of that movie boring. There's a reason why Ludvine is probably going to win the 2003 Best Uncostumed Performance. ("Swimming Pool" also made "Peter Pan" distracting; I kept saying to myself, "I've seen Tinkerbell naked!" This despite the fact that I'd seen Ludvine in a couple other movies prior to "Swimming Pool," including "8 Women," but now she's just the "Swimming Pool" girl!)
