...I don't remember it well enough to comment on. But I do remember as I was watching "The Cooler" thinking that all of it had a familiar feel to it, and that's because I had seen "Intacto" before it.
I think with me, if a movie doesn't overwhelm me (and "The Cooler" didn't), then originality matters. Then you have something like "Equilibrium," which was about as original as painted glass, but was absolutely overwhelming (much more so than either "Matrix" sequel), so its lack of originality was ignored. That's not to say "Intacto" and "The Cooler" were all that similar, but it's such an uncommon general theme that they sort of seemed that way. But I will agree that it wasn't exactly the world's most exciting movie, best as I can recall. But it sure seemed original and thought-provoking at the time.
