Basically, Edwards was the top trial attorney in the state of North Carolina before becoming senator. Although this may not say much, he always comes off as bright, and hasn't made any stupid comments to this point. Dan, I actually have to disagree with you. Sure, Edwards could have had 4 or 8 years more experience before running, but I think that his decision to run in this cycle was solid. In a weak field, he established himself as a #2 & gained the national exposure that will help him to secure the Democratic Party nomination in the future (although Hillary may stop this). He has a decent shot at being Kerry's VP nominee. Heck, he still has a shot to win his party's nomination.
