01/02/03: There are many movies for which sequels should not have been made

First Blood and Rocky come to mind. The Blair Witch Project. The Exorcist. I doubt if I'll get much argument about these. Movies that stunk in the first place but still spawned sequels seem to fulfill an amazingly large niche market consisting of morons, imbeciles, and idiots. These would include Police Academy and Sleepaway Camp.

One movie that I can think of where the sequel was better than the original is Eddie and the Cruisers 2. I'm sure there are others.

Sequels that were particularly good and stand alone on their own merits include Deathrace 2000 and Fahrenheit 451. Someday I hope to view Deathrace, Fahrenheit, and the 2,449 sequels of these that I missed. Yes, they were that good.
