At least thats what this movie reminded me of.
Or if you could make a sequel to "Being John Malkovich" that mixed fiction and reality in such a mysterious way. Oh and it had a fair dose of "the Player" mixed in.
I would have found it more interesting if the sequence of film and "script writing film" had been mixed up more often. Ie everything seemed pre-announced, occasionally it would have been nice to see it the other way round.
See this movie if you liked "being John Malkovich" and "The Player" and don't mind two completely different movies tacked together like "Dusk till Dawn" (only no vampires in this one, although the aligators have big teeth).
Don't see this movie if you must have things blow up, and wild car chases and really bad guys and lots of (mostly naked) gorgeous women.
Meryl Streep is perfect cos if you hate her already, you can indulge yourself.
Nicolas Cage is perfectly annoying and insecure as Kaufman and Kaufman.
Chris Cooper damn nearly steals the show and I dunno how he did that with his teeth, very convincing, very ugly.
The orchids are a red herring. Possibly the least convincing bit of the whole movie.
It would be interesting to see what kind of movie we'd get if the whole script was written as "Donald" instead of half and half.
And I've been in a car accident like those and shit that was scary - realistic - unpleasant.
