1. "Out of Sight," mainly from a commercial perspective. In my opinion, this was a better adaptation than either "Jackie Brown" or "Get Shorty." The camera work and cutting was excellent as was the acting. Makes me want to watch "Kafka" again. Well, maybe not.
2. "Buffalo '66." I just rented this during the weekend, and it was an excellent film. Gallo, Ricci, and Huston all turn in excellent performances in this frankly, unique film. My friends and I were laughing hysterically at many scenes, and Gallo still found a way to create some sympathy for his character. Gallo uses some camera angles I've never seen before, and many of these portray his isolation and innocence. Also, his use of what I might call idea boxes was very interesting. This film deserves to be seen by more people.
3. "The Spanish Prisoner." Also, check out "House of Games." Both films deal with deception and questioning the surfaces you see. Both take you on interesting rides into human psychology and motivation, and "The spanish Prisoner" helped cure my Steve Martin fix.
