I normally don't make off-topic posts, but since this question is about Best Actor Oscars, for which Nolte will probably be nominated...
If "Saving Private Ryan" wins Best Picture and Tom Hanks is nominated for Best Actor, then Hanks will become only the second person in the 80s or 90s to have acting performances NOMINATED in two Best Picture WINNERS. (notice the way I stepped around particulars...)
Who was the other?
By the way, several persons have had prominent roles in two or more Best Pictures of the 80s and 90s, but were not nominated for both or all. Bonus points for as many of those as you can name.
And, not the I researched this, but off the top of my head I can name at least one person who has been nominated in a best picture winner from each the 60s, 70s and 80s, but in my opinion, the best answer to that one is almost too obvious to give points.
I suggest you not look at anyone else's response to this post before you make your own post...
