One of the most tedious, tiresome and stultifyingly boring films that I've ever had the misfortune to see.
No backstory, no character development and all so that the most part of the two hours can be spent in a semmingly never-ending orgy of pointless, unrelenting sadistic violence. Either we're more culturally evolved now such that a film like this isn't immediately banned (as per 'A Clockwork Orange') or we're stupider to allow a meglomanic like Gibson to even make this piece of crap in the first place, even if it is self-financed (and the reasons for that are blindingly obvious).
I couldn't give a shit about the religious implications, sure the Catholics can feed their guilt and the Jews can feed their paranoia - but if your faith is so tenuous that you feel threatened by this crock then really, maybe it's time to consider another path. Try something truly evil - join the Republican party or something.
And don't even get me started on the sheer hypocrisy of censors who routinely ban "sex" films such as Baise-Moi, yet are quite happy to allow kiddies to line up and watch some guy get the living crap beaten out of him. Unbelievable.
