Greece, not Georgia -- Athens wanted the 1996 or the 2000 Olympics because 1996 was the 100th anniversary of the modern games (which was held, of course, in Athens, as were the ancients games that inspired the modern games) and the 2000 Olympics was, well, the 2000 Olympics, but they got stuck with the unimportant year of 2004. Basically, Athens is a rather worthless city these days, which is why it was skipped until now. Tampa's shooting (and missing) for 2012.
