If not for Jude Law's thoughtful and ultimately moving performance, this film would have offered me nothing. The only theme displayed in this film is the longing a child feels for a departed parent. So many issues could have been addressed but all we get is this bizarre Oedipal fantasy. Technically magnificent but hopelessly pointless.
