I'm not quite sure spelling bee's promote actual grammer, they should spell a whole sentence with punctuations. When kids in colleges in the US can't tell the difference between its and it's, or Americans, American's and Americans', we've got a huge problem. We may as well start talking like Bizzaro Superman...
