Um, what was this retard smoking when he wrote this movie? There isn't any--and I mean ANY--historical accuracy in this movie. I make armor as a hobby, so I can tell you as an absolute fact that this movie is a horrid, wretched piece of Hollywood crap. I've listed below just a few of the blaring mistakes made (besides the music comments previously stated by Mr. Cranky).
1. Time frame: Edward, the Black Prince, and Geoffry Chaucer were born in 1330 and 1340, respectively. By 1400, both were dead. The "tilt barrier," that wooden fence that seperates the horses during a joust, was not invented until 1420. If the premise of MY movie was a jousting hero, I wouldn't make the supporting cast a bunch of guys who had been dead for decades before the setting of the movie came into being.
2. Clothing: The heroine was wearing a hideous see-through mesh outfit at one point. Yeah right. She'd have been burned at the stake in the 14th century if she wore that.
3. Armor (The biggie): Not a single jouster carried a shield, which was standard equipment for most jousts. Also, The armor worn by William, and pretty much everyone else, in fact) post-dates the time frame by more than a century. Also, remember the helmets that flew off people? Wouldn't have happened, folks! During jousts, helmets were held on by buckles and straps or metal hasps like those used nowadays to hold barn doors shut. Also, (see a pattern developing?) Most of the helmets seen in the movie would NEVER be used for jousts. Why? Because they had breathing holes on the left side. Definitely not period. I colud go one, but I'll spare you the multitude of further technicalities.
4. Edward again: Edward was known as Edward in England, not Edward, The Black Prince. He was in the ground for about two hundred years before anyone in England would have called him by that name.
If you like this rant and want to see more, email me, and I'll tell you more about this or other movies I hate.
