I have essentially euthanised patients in the past who were terminal. When the dying process goes on too long and it's very painful for the family to sit there and watch this, I have oft times been asked by family members if I could do something to end the suffering. And I have given some of these patients a large enough dose of morphine that I knew it would stop their respirations. (Of course, under a doc's orders-- they usually specify Morphine 4-10 mg as needed for pain. Open to interpretation, what say you?) At any rate, it's not a satisfying thing to kill someone, even for the right reasons. But it is very easy to tell when the spirit has left the body. It's actually very peaceful. Not the thrilling adventure you seem to think. So take my word for it, okay?? Get off the death and mayhem thing.
