If there hadn't been the previous trilogy of films, I could have enjoyed this one as a fun shlockfest. After three excellent (if grim) installments, though, I just couldn't go for this one. The intelligence and deliberate pacing of the previous films is discarded for a one dimensional shoot-em-up monster movie. The CGI aliens are the least convincing of the series, although I will admit the underwater scene was well done.
