The glow in the dark monkey doesn't have a purpose in and of itself. The techniques that were used to make him glow are what's important. Now that the techniques to insert nonmammalian genes into primates have been developed, they can be used to insert more useful genes. This can have tremendous applications in treating genetically-based diseases.

The purpose of the glow in the dark gene is, it's really easy to show if a functioning gene was inserted correctly. Just shine a UV light on the monkey and see if he glows!

Oh and Batz-

The Question was originally a Charleton character. DC bought the rights to him when Charlton went under.
