06/10/98: Filmation and the Bundies

Posted By: Mikurtis

Filmation did one other thing I liked---"Masters of the Universe". Although it always puzzled me why the Hordak and the Evil Horde was part of the merchandising of He-Man when infact, the Horde was on "She-Ra". I think the same was true for those Rock-Men and Snake-Men because I don't remember either appearing on He-Man's show. I liked Filmation's "Ghostbusters" for about a year but then, my taste sort of grew up and developed. Know what I mean?

I loved the first Ghostbusters cartoon with Samhain---loved the character. Actually, I'd always assumed he appeared in just one show. There were more? One I remember liking was an episode where an obnoxious family of ghosts (parodying the Bundies from "Married with Children") moved into the Ghostbusters Headquarters----although, I think that was probably around the same time the show went way downhill and became more of a joke than anything else. I mean, it was always funny but eventually, it just got too silly and dumb.

Anyne remember a few years back, they came out with the lousiest "New Adventures of He-man" or something like that? I'm embarrassed because I was a bit old but I actually decided to sit through an episode of the new He-man---just out of curiosity. When I was a kid, "He-man" was my favorite show---I actually went to see the Masters of the Universe Power Tour at Radio City Music Hall. Anyway, the remake sucked even worse than "Extreme Ghostbusters"! No Cringer/Tiger Cat---actually, He-Man, the Sorceress and Skeletor were the only original characters to return----but they looked different & the voices were done by different people & everything took place on space ships and foreign planets!!!!!!!!! What happened to good old Eternia? God, my memory is starting to scare me!
