I agree that it is common and 'OK' to borrow ideas and formats from other websites. But intelligent users and people with at least a shred of decency will use what they borrow only to assist them in making their pages do what they want.
This is totally different. It is a line-for-line COPY of the Mr C html source code. KS was such a moron that he didn't even change the text lines to say Mr Blinky instead of Mr Cranky.
I don't give a good Goddamn if it is or isn't illegal. It sure as hell ought to be though !
Realistically, you see something on a page and think "hey, that's neat. I'd like to do that to." So you copy the source code, and then edit it so it looks like what you want, not just a carbon copy of the original.
I suggest that Mr C delete this thread, blast KS, and strongly discourage this type of activity. It just 'feels' wrong, and f**k the law if the law hasn't caught up to this type of crime yet. We all know what's right and what's wrtong and don't need to hide behind some artifact or omission in the law.
Don't forget that LSD was 'legal' for about 5 years because it wasn't specifically illegal. There weren't any laws about it one way or the other, but everybody knew it wasn't right.
Capiche ?
