Surrounded by a throng of reporters at an OPEC summit in Saudi Arabia, colorful Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez excused himself to go to the bathroom, as thousands downloaded a new ring-tone of the Spanish King telling him to "shut up".
"Look I have to go," Chavez told reporters at the OPEC summit, in comments aired on Venezuelan state television. "For a while now, I have needed to go to the bathroom and I am going to pee ... Do you want me to pee on you?"
Venezuelan officials say Chavez is on television an average of 40 hours a week, giving hours-long speeches in TV shows that can last up to 8 hours.
A few months ago, he told the audience he had to leave -- to do something "you can't do for me."
"Shut up"
Earlier this month, Spain's King Juan Carlos set off a diplomatic spat that threatens Spanish investments in Venezuela, a major oil producer, when he told Chavez at a summit in Chile to "shut up."
The king made the remark earlier this month at a summit in Chile, after Chavez called former Spanish prime minister Jose Maria Aznar a "fascist."
As the outspoken leftist president continued to rant about Aznar during another speaker's allotted time, an angry King Carlos turned to Chavez and uttered the now-famous phrase.
Meanwhile, "Why don't you shut up?" -- "Por qué no te callas?" in Spanish – has become the hottest new ringtone among Spanish citizens and opponents of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, with the phrase being downloaded some half a million times in Spain.
According to the BBC, the hit ringtone has generated roughly $2 million in revenue, and "Why don't you shut up?" T-shirts and coffee mugs are also in production.
But Chavez has vowed to keep on talking and has dedicated many hours to rebutting the Spanish monarch at public events, news conferences and media interviews.
