I'm not surprised that convneor said that.
Relatively speaking, Taiwan is a relatively free country with fairly strong protections of property rights and individual liberty, and China is a relatively totalitarian country that doesn't respect basic human liberties. So I'm not surpirsed by convenor's statement that trying to declare independence from China would be a "dumb" thing to do.
