How about suicidal. Let's see:
A couple of billion Chinese.
A couple million Taiwanese.
Likelihood that we are willing to go to the mats protecting Taiwan's right to break a treaty that we and the rest of the world have agreed to for over two decades = slim to none.
Likelihood that Chinese would be willing to go to the mats over such a stupid move = fairly likely.
