You are right, it is never FULLY explained why Rasputan is after Anya, and hates her family so much, but if you listened to the lines in the movie you would get a pretty good idea. "We thaught he was a holy man but he was a fraud" "How dare you return to the palace" "But I am your confident" "Confident hah you are a traitor get out" "I was once the most mystical man in all Russia. When the royals betrayed me they made a mistake. My curse made each of them pay..But one little girl got away. Little Anya beware Rasputan's awake" "I was banished by your dispicable family..But what goes around comes around" And Anya did COMPLETELY give up her title, wealth, and royalty. A title is only a lable that we can chose to keep, or give up. It dosn't mean anything, that was the entire point of the movie. Also, that was not an expensive yacht at the end of the movie. It was an ordinary foot passenger ferry, that I am sure even ordinary people can offord to travel on. Remember that prices were lower back then.
