I totally agree. This is, however not the first time Disney blatantly disregard the cultural heritage of Europe and it won't be the last. I am a Norwegian, and proud of the cultural heritage I am part of, with the fantastic sagas and tales of the Norse (Viking) Gods. I've heard rumours that the Disney corporation are going to make a movie based on Norse mythology and I can only guess at the consequences. It'll probably be a hip version that mixes Vikings with Goths (the barbaric people, not the subculture) into one big muddle with songs like "Hit me, Thor (One more time)" and "Oh, oh, Odin (Such a brain on him, though he's only got one eye)" Disney's greatest problem is trying to "please" an audience by simplifying myths and legends 'til they are hardly recognisable. Giving sad stories happy endings, and mixing a dab of American quasi-moralism into everything. I only wish some other company would do Valhalla instead.
