say, delphie,
I'm thinking (and I could be wrong, but I think I'm right) that the title Angela's Ashes breaks down to this:
Angela = Mrs McCourt's first name
Ashes = considering how poor their family was, they
couldn't afford to give her a casket/funeral when she
finally died from the consumption, too, so she was
cremated. I think.
So I'm thinking that maybe that was a smoldering pile of irony jammed in our faces or something. That this woman toiled and stressed and screwed her brother to try to help her little family only to be f*cked over and reduced to ash when she died.
Am I confused?
