Another movie made successfully from a book was The Right Stuff, but it was a lot longer than 2 hours. There was an excellent adaptation of Anna Karenina on Masterpiece Theatre, so I think it is impossible to do justice to Tolstoy in 2 hours - I have never seen a decent War & Peace, but understand there is a Russian version.
