10/08/1998: Hollywood version of Gundam? OH GOD NO!!!!!!!!!

They're going to screw it up in every possible way. Remember "the Guyver" anyone? God that was bad. Especially when compared to the anime.

As for the Sailor Moon live action film, it's all but officially dead. All parties involved are totally deadlocked over one thing, the toy rights. Bandai has them, Disney wants them, and Bandai is not giving them up. It has been over a year since the first and only article (It was in Mr. Showbiz saying Geena Davis could be cast as Queen Beryl.), and a project sitting on the shelf for that long is usually forgotten.

A Sailor Moon note: Although only rumors so far, there is a possibilty new episodes of the original anime could be made. On August 16, 1998, Naoko Takeuchi and Yoshihiro Togashi distributed a "paper" which discussed the different projects they were working on. In this "paper," Naoko Takeuchi discussed the possibility of more episodes, saying that she didn't mind coming to an agreement providing that [Kodansha] (the company with the initial rights to the property):

1. Return all of her original artwork.

2. Publish the "settei shiryou shuu" (a book that describes all of the details, characters and additional information about a story).

3. Forward her all of the telephone cards, fan letters and gifts from fans.

4. Assign a good editor to her.

// Hmmm. . . A *sixth* season of Sailor Moon? //

Ja ne,
