I saw "Antz" when it first came out, and I liked it...but not much. I missed a large part of the middle of the movie because I walked out to go see another one. I came back for the end, which was pretty good. The main problem was that the characters were just too blandly rendered; the whole movie was just too bland-brown. The voices were pretty cool, though; Woody Allen was great! Still, not really a movie for kids. I haven't seen "A Bug's Life" yet, so I make no comparisons. 'Nuff said.
