No need to apologize, Wolman. If you took my statement to mean that Canada's history does not include political dissent and occaisionally violent means in which to express it, then you took me too literally. Or, I perhaps sounded a little too smug or self-righteous? Quite possible. I'm afraid I get a little superior sometimes which is really obnoxious, and for that I apologize.

Our hands are dirty with our own history of warring peoples, and continues to this day with strife in the Native Canadian community and of course the whole soveriegnty issue in Quebec, not to mention regional differences across the whole damn country. But at least we keep our hands free of the blood of others in lands that have their own differences to work out. Canada's international role is typically that of peace-keeping. There are plenty of recent examples of Americans trying to force the rest of the world to adopt their cultural/political views by throwing its considerable weight around. Best example I can think of is Cuba.

Anyway, I'm late for work! Let's continue this peaceful discussion some other time :)

Live Long and Prosper
