I'm pretty sure Ali was a concienscious objector to Vietnam, quite different from a draft dodger in my book. At least he was willing to stand on his convictions and was willing to take the consequences of his actions. Not at all like the ivory tower rich kids like Prez We Know the Story Bill and old Danny Boy I'm in the National Guard Quail (sp?).
I personally loved this movie when I was younger (and more chemically altered ;), now I see a bit more of the cheese-like qualities. Still good but Platoon and Full Metal Jacket were much better movies about Vietnam. I can still hear the vet behind me crying during the end of Platoon. Nothing else about Vietnam could have touched me deeper.
